Gale Harold nació en Atlanta, Georgia el 25 de Septiembre de 1971. Vivió en el sur de los EEUU hasta que ganó una beca de futbol y se trasladó a la American University en Washington, DC dónde inició sus estudios en Literatura y Lenguas Románicas, aunque diferencias con el director de su departamento le hizo abandonar un año y medio después. Se trasladó a San Francisco y se matriculó en Bellas Artes, aunque la perdida de su beca le obligó a cambiar sus planes de futuro. Suzy Landau, productora habitual de Francis Ford Coppola, le insiste para que suba a un escenario y tras ser presentado al actor y director Joan E. Scheckel, Gale se trasladó a Los Angeles, y comenzó un curso intensivo de tres años de duración de arte dramático e interpretación. Debutó en Los Angeles Theatre Center con la obra “Me and my friend” de Gillian Plowman. Posteriormente se unió actuó en obras como “The Misanthrope” y “Cymbeline” junto a la compañia de teatro clásico “A noise within”
